Diagnostic value of MR Image in patients with chronic ankle instability

  • Objective To evaluate the value of MR Image identification in patients with chronic ankle instability. Methods Forty-five cases with ankle instability in our hospital were randomly selected as research group. The other 45 cases with others foot disease (excluding ankle injury) patients were selected as control group. MRI was performed to patients. The position of the talus and fibular patients were observed by measuring the AMI patients, IMI, MTI talus and fibula. Results MRI results showed osteochondral injury of the talus in 16 cases, 8 cases of fracture of cartilage surrounding tissue edema, 11 cases of the peroneal tendons,7 cases of ligaments injury and 3 cases of achilles tendon rupture . AMI, MTI were significantly higher in research group than the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). IMI in 2 groups was not significantly different (P>0.05). Conclusion MRI has a high sensitivity in joint soft tissue injuries, especially the ligaments, muscles, tendons and cartilage. Spin phenomenain the talus exist in patients with functional instability of ankle injury.
